What does sky marine alert do?

We are a specialist marine electronics firm with our own unique product that enables you to monitor your boat remotely and receive notifications and control equipment on board.

What is the system for and designed to do?

The system is a monitoring and control system & tracker for your boat, you can see at any point the location, add the sensors you require and get notifications of alarms loss shore power high bilge water, you can also control outputs so switch devices on your vessel via the app and online portal.

It can be what you want it to be, it can be a security system, battery monitoring system or complete boat monitoring & switching solution.

The system can have as many sensors as you require and can also control functions on your vessel such as heating power devices.

Sky marine alert offers a monitoring solution that connects our app with the on-board control unit using worldwide 3G/4G coverage (with optional satellite communication).

On the app/PC can you see the status of the device and if it is activated or not?

Yes in most cases you can see the status of the device and its history so you can look back and see what happened?

Is it an ALARM system or monitoring system?

It’s both or whatever you want it to be, we can fit a simple intruder system or a system that monitors temperature, multi battery voltages and inhibits the boat from starting to give you battery voltages and input notifications from whatever device you choose.

How secure is the system?

Everything is done in house and we have never had any issues and take effort to ensure that we will not have in the future.

Can you have multi users on app or desktop portal?

Yes you can have up to 150 devices on one portal or just a few its totally adaptable and can be a white label if required or branded to you if you have a fleet.

How does safe return work?

You set a time frame of your voyage and if you are not back the system can send notifications ,email and SMS to multi recipients.

What can it be fitted to?

We have fitted the system to all types of watercraft from wakeboard boats, canal boats to larger vessels and even trains.

Can I see my battery & multi battery voltages?

We can monitor and send alerts from all batteries on your boat and monitor as many batteries as you have be it generator, leisure or cranking batteries .

Each battery can be labelled as you require on the software and you can switch ability if required.

If shore power is lost again you get instant alerts and have the ability to power down the device on your app if required.

You can see if the engine is running if you require through NMEA and other engine stats.

Sky Marine Alert monitoring solutions enables you to remotely check your boat’s status through our mobile app, internet connected smartphone or online via our portal.

Do you install it yourself?

90% of the systems we fit ourselves using our own engineers but if you are a having a simple system we can send you a pre made kit all labelled up or if you are a boat manufacturer or marine electronics installation firm we can supply you as you require.

Can it be fitted covertly?

Yes without a doubt we are very quiet people that don’t wear SKY MARINE  branded clothing and most of our vehicles are plain without signwriting. Tell us when you place your call  about your situation.

How do I get notifications?

You need to have an internet connected smartphone or you can get the online portal on your desktop laptop etc. You can also get SMS and email notifications or all three if suits?

What if I go out of 4G range?

We can fit long range antennas which are small and discreet and come in many options to suit. This increases coverage and is a great option.

Any messages that are created will send when the connection is made again.

The next option is Iridium see below.

What is iridium communications?

The Iridium network delivers communications services all over the world, including remote areas where no other form of communication is available (e.g. large oceans and polar regions). It is therefore an appealing feature if your boat is in an area with no 3G/4G signal.

Are the notifications stored elsewhere in case I miss them?

Yes they are stored in a log so if you missed them you can view the history at any point.

That log is saved for the lifetime of the system and has been set up so at any point you can go back and view.

How do we and our system differ from other systems on the market?

Our solutions and our approach is that every job is different and it’s not a boxed solution we offer, we thrive on being able to overcome problems and provide solutions that are bespoke.

Who buys from you?

We fit to individuals boats, boat rental companies, charter firms and marinas.  We can also provide temporary solutions or hire/lease systems if required.

What’s the cost?

Basic systems from £500 upwards but just let us know your thoughts and what you need and let’s give you a quote.

Monthly ongoing costs?

The monthly cost is £11.45 per system this is taken via DD this is for inshore 4G use.

Iridium costs are extra and dependant on data used but again come with a monthly charge.

How does the CCTV system work?

CCTV is on a separate APP at the moment so you can see a live feed of the cameras installed on your boat, most systems are IP or 1080p HD so great quality and we can fit monitors as docking aids if required.

We can fit stainless cameras and provide a solution to most problems. It’s a ideal mate for the APP as its visual verification if you get an intruder notification.

Where do you install?

We are based in Southampton but work all over the UK, Europe & anywhere we can get a flight to.

All work is done by our own engineers so no security issues. When the system is fitted we will demonstrate fully and make sure you are happy.

What do you need from me?

Get in touch with us and we can discuss your options and get you a formal quote.

Once we have agreed a system we can discuss fitting dates and get a 10% deposit – You need to inform any relevant party’s that we are doing work for you and then just leave us to it.

We are used to working unsupervised and have a massive attention to detail, it’s all fitted by our own trusted engineers, we are only a small firm so always give great attention to detail.

We will send you the APP details and then we will demonstrate the system working to you and make sure you are totally happy.

What’s the warranty?

The warranty on all our equipment and installation is 1 year.

What’s does the future hold for Sky Marine and technology?

We are only a small firm and have no intentions of getting any bigger, which may sound negative but at the moment we can offer customer service, unique solutions and have found the happy point of our business.

The future is always bright with electronics and we are constantly looking at ways we can improve our systems and how we work.

Integration with other manufacturers equipment  is on the 2020 list as well as our continued mission to get Iridium data costs lower and integrating IP CCTV to our monitoring APP so all on one platform.

So it’s a control system as well?

Yes you can have a touch screen or multi touch screens on your boat to control equipment or give you the data you need at that point, and also have the same ability to control the same on the APP on your phone. You can control lights or and 12v 24v or 240v device and everything can be custom programmed to you can see what you need where you need. All the touchscreens are waterproof and durable units to be permanently wired in and left to the elements.

What is smart battery connect/disconnect?

Our system comes with its own battery back up device so if the boats battery’s are low you can shut them off they can’t drain more power and flatten them totally. It also means if power was lost to our unit you get a notification and a timeframe to close systems down on your boat to prevent battery damage. You can also turn the battery’s back on again as you require.

How does the NMEA show?

Let us know what NMEA 2000 devices your boat has fitted and connected together, most NMEA devices can be shown on our APP so you can see LIVE

NMEA data such as windspeed direction water and fuel levels depth SOG COG STW.

How many extra monitors or displays can we have on the vessel?

Our system is unique so you decide your needs and we will work out the functionality.

How do I see if my boat is still connected to GSM or SATT COMMS Iridium?

On the app or desktop there is a graph showing GSM signal strength and if there is no GSM and you have SATT COMMS fitted it will automatically switch over.

We can fit long range GSM antennas and all are systems come with a multi network SIM fitted as standard so it searches for the strongest network signal from all providers and latches to that.

The system works in Europe as well included in the monthly cost  and can work all over the world you just need to tell us where you are going and we will get a solution SIM.

What happens If I lose power to the device or the batteries on the boat go flat totally?

You will receive notifications and can set the parameters yourself so you can decide at what point you get notifications IE 12v or less.

If you don’t respond to the notifications the last message on the LOG will be unit powered down.

Our control system has its own UPS small battery pack connected to it and this rectifies small power drop outs and ensures safe shut down in power failure so you can check on the LOG as to the status of the boat if it will not connect.

We have a installation partner that can quote you for solar panels and battery requirements please let us know.

What’s the cost for SATT COMMS?

After the initial cost of the unit and antenna you need to pay a line rental cost of only £12.40 Per month.

You can do this just in the summer months or when you know you will need it so you buy what you need in essence.

There is also a cost for credits extra, credits are the data that is sent out and received when connected and varies as to what you have connected on your boat.

You have your own account with the Sat COMMS supplier so can add as you require and see what your data usage is.

There is a link from the APP and PC portal direct to there site to make It easy for you.

If I have multi boats or a fleet how does it work?

You can see each boat on the APP or PC version in one log In  just scroll to the boat name and see its information.

You will get notifications from all the boats on that account so only need to log in once to see all your fleet.

We offer discounts on fleet monitoring subscriptions but the Iridium costs are always the same.

Who else can see my boats information or log in?

You can choose & change your passwords/log in details and any point yourself so have total control.

How loud are the sirens?

The sirens we fit are 120DB sirens so very loud, we can fit internal or external sirens and have many different designs to suits all applications

How do I move forward or speak to somebody?

Send us an email [email protected] whenever you want or call us on 023 8218 2693 the phone diverts to our mobile phone after hours and we are often travelling in the evening so happy to answer calls when we can if not leave us a voicemail.
